I Have My Moments.

UPDATE:
Visit to the German Doctor's office was odd was an experience: strep throat really doesn't exist here. They know the bacteria, but don't take it very seriously. I paid 32 Euros and wasted an hour of my host dad's time just to hear that there wasn't anything we could do. (no antibiotics because I wasn't running a fever) Anywho, so I've been just kinda chilling... sick.

On to the real story!

Going with a couple blog entries earlier where I talked about reading my old emails with Tori from when she was in Germany, I've been doing that recently with all my free time due to sickness. : ) My sister used all these weird German words in our emails, and now I am proud to say that I actually understand what she was trying to say to me. It took me two whole years to catch on. We should all be very proud of Miss Lissa. Now in these emails, I had some interesting advice for my dear sister; furthermore, I am approaching my halftime next week, so here is a very interesting point to touch on: Homesickness. I am asked all the time here: "Oh, do you miss home? Are you homesick? Do you like Germany?" I am just going to address all these questions at once: Yes, I do miss home. I miss it all the time, but I realized something that made even thinking about being homesick pointless: America is still there. I am still going back and completing my Senior year in five short months, so I need to make the most of what I have here, even if it sucks sometimes. Here are some pieces of conversation and journal entry on what homesickness is really like, a couple thoughts. : )

come on Tor.
being away is hard
but learning to make the best of it makes it worth it.
you do realize that when you went to high school you tore it up!
right?
you made yourself loved/liked. and it worked.
people here miss you and they will welcome you back gladly
but it is your job to make the most out of Germany.

when you only have one chance to do something
don't you want to look back and think that it was worth it?
that you did everything you could?
and that you got something out of it that was amazing?

your welcome!
print it out and tape it on the bathroom mirror!
print it!
now!
you and severin can read it and get pumped up every morning!

good.
you better be!
and prosper people are only your style because that is how you grew up. people are different from place to place but they are still the same generally. it is human nature. you just miss the familiar faces and knowing everyone. you can deny it!

nope.
people are different.
there are all kinds of different people in the world.
didnt you ever learn that?

I could listen to my own advice... And just as a footnote, Tori made the best of her year. I love hearing her stories now, a little piece of inspiration. : )
